Issue 133
For the Creatively Inclined and Design Minded
Notations of Enthusiasm is intended to be a resource of inspiration and encouragement for architects, interior designers, and anyone with creative ambitions.
This Week’s Notations:
Maybe this is too idyllic, but perhaps an artist’s home/studio in the San Juans should be. Described as a “workingman’s modernism”…
Living on a houseboat is romantic, but comes with downsides right? Well, this home seems to have cheated…
Is it a tent or an A-Frame? Yes it is. A bit niche, but I am a sucker for clever mashups…
This is such a strange and beautifully quirky house, chocked full of considered and honest details…
This house is cool, but not in the conventional sense. Some eccentric decisions were made, decisions that I think speak to the designer’s boldness and savvy…
This home seems to be the exact antithesis of the one just above. It is clean, almost too clean. Almost feels machined in a way, but still is not cold or inhuman…
So lets finish the year off with a couple of fun aspirational/ romantic videos about the pencil…
Set In Stone is a bespoke fabrication + design studio.
The fabrication and business of hand crafted goods connects us to our own humanity and to each other’s. We are doing more than just making “stuff”. We are challenging our modern cynicism and jaded consumer culture. We feel that our work tells a story of locality, community, and life. it is a reflection of our shared humaness.
WHAT WE DO
Set In Stone is a bespoke fabrication + design studio located in beautiful Chattanooga TN. We harness the inherent good of concrete, wood, and steel for our clients in commercial and residential spaces. Concrete, wood, and steel are all beautiful materials in their own right, but become more than the sum of their parts when artfully brought together and provide excellent solutions for a variety of needs. Our mission is to bring your ideas to life with the highest quality possible.
